Edinburgh Futures Institute - Site Logistics Animation

Site logistics build sequence detailing how the restoration works would be carried out in phases across this complex project at the former Royal Infirmary building, Quartermile.

Luma were invited to conduct an initial survey with the main contractor, to familiarise ourselves with the building and the scope of works that were required to be carried out. From the outset we could see that the restoration works were going to be very complex and the main contractor required an animation to show how the entire building would be split up into separate phases of work throughout the build programme.

Edinburgh Futures Institute has moved into its stunning new home at the Old Royal Infirmary. A new futures-focused space for learning, research, and innovation at the University of Edinburgh.

Service Trench Study

A detailed step-by-step study; Excavation beneath the existing structure by means of underpinning using ‘Hit & Miss’ methodology to safeguard neighbouring foundations to the historically sensitive building for the formation of a new service trench which would run the full length of the building.
